Un ringranziamento di cuore al giornalista Tobias, corrispondente per l’Italia di TextilWirtschaft per aver colto la preziosità storica della ditta Passamani di San Pietro Mosezzo (Novara), salvata nel 2012 da Piero Forza Giovane, a cui ha ridato nuova vita per conservare nel futuro queste storiche lavorazioni, compresa l’orditura dei fili con il sistema ideato da Leonardo da Vinci (Bicocca).

Piergiovanni Vitalini soddisfa i desideri del mondo del lusso con la sua azienda di 120 anni Passamani.
Come musica suona il ticchettio dei telai. Cinque crome veloci. Pausa. Da capo.
Ho registrato il ritmo su nastro e sostenuto dai brani di Beethoven e Mozart, Piergiovanni Vitalini dice “si inseriscono splendidamente.”
Vitalini conduce 40 telai Jacquard. Nel 2012 il 56enne imprenditore del tessile ha rilevato il marchio Passamani, fondato nel 1896. La sua fabbrica è situata a Novara, in Piemonte, ad ovest di Milano. Lui fabbrica passamanerie con antichi telai con l’aiuto di 7 persone. Queste passamanerie andranno a decorare vestiti, scarpe e borse. Trai suoi clienti si annoverano: Chanel, Dior, Max Mara, Prada così come i marchi dei due gruppi del fashion, Kering e LVMH.
“Il mondo del lusso vuol dare ai loro prodotti un’inconfondibile identità. Per questa ragione i lavori a mano tradizionali son tornati ad essere richiesti”, dice Vitalini. Al momento vanno per la maggiore i pattern Jacquard multicolori. Nervature e passamanerie con piping danno al tessuto un effetto tridimensionale. Son molto richiesti anche effetti metallici, per esempio quelli con filato lurex. Puoi avere tutto questo ad un prezzo di lusso. Un metro di costa, a seconda dei costi, tra 1.50 e 60 Euro. In generale l’ordinativo minimo è di 30 metri.
Vitalini, il titolare di Passamani, è difficile che passi inosservato in mezzo alla folla, e specialmente difficile non sentirlo. Molto prima che lui giri l’angolo, uno può sentire sonagli e sferragliamento. Rassomiglia ad un guerriero in armatura di un qualche gioco fantasy. Da cima a piedi è adornato di anelli, rivetti e piccole placche di metallo; 18 anelli adornano le sue dita. Gli ha ottenuti a Bologna, Parigi e New York, trovandoli in fiere, festival e, una volta, un anello avvolto nel cellophane nel bicchiere dello spazzolino da denti in una stanza d’albergo.
Vitalini è ben conosciuto nel mondo del fashion e non solo per la sua apparenza. Nel 1988, insieme a sua cognata, fondò Forza Giovane, nella città di Fano, nelle Marche. Al giorno d’oggi l’azienda impiega 80 persone e soddisfa i gusti eccentrici dei suoi clienti. Una delle lavorazioni più richieste e “l’agugliatura”. Al posto di cucire due tessuti, questi vengono interconnessi tramite le loro fibre, con il risultato di avere un materiale unito dalla mano morbida, come il colore dell’oceano nella pittura ad acqua.
Un’antica arte praticata da giovani mani. A Passamani Daniele, 40 anni, ha l’ultima parola. Prima di questo lavoro vendeva macchinari ad alta tecnologia per i produttori di rubinetteria. Ora invece lui tira fili, tira catene, olia giunti e gestisce un team di ventenni.
Grazie allo spirito giovane delle persone che la compongono, Passamani si tiene al passo con i tempi. E’ vero che i telai Jacquard lavorano con schede perforate, ma allo stesso tempo al posto di utilizzare punzone e martello, Vitalini preferisce utilizzare una macchina per il taglio laser. “E’ più veloce e preciso”.

THE WEAVING LOOM CONDUCTOR
Piergiovanni Vitalini fulfills the desires of the luxury world with his 120-year factory Passamani.
The clatter of the weaving loom sounds like music. Five fast eighth notes. Pause. Da Capo. “I recorded the rhythm on record. I added it to the music of Beethoven and Mozart”, says Piergiovanni Vitalini: “They fit great together”.
Vitalini conducts 40 Jacquard-weaving looms. In 2012, the 56-year old textile-entrepreneur took over the Firma Passamani, founded in 1896. His factory is located in Novara, Piedmont Region, west of Milan. He fabricates trimmings on ancient weaving looms with the help of seven employee. These trimmings will later decorate suits, shoes and bags. His clients include: Chanel, Dior, Max Mara, Prada as well as the daughter companies of the fashions concerns, Kering and LVMH.
“The luxury industry would like to give their products an unmistakable identity. For that reason, traditional handicraft is demanded again,” says Vitalini. Currently, the multicolor Jacquard-pattern design is in demand. The ribbing and trimming with piping gives the fabric a three-dimensional quality. Metallic effects are in demand, for example, the ones with lurex thread. You can get all this for upscale prices. One meter costs, depending on costs, between 1.50 and 60 Euros. In general, the minimum order is 30 meters.
The Passamani-owner Vitalini is hard to be overlooked in the crowd. And especially hard not be heard. Long before he turns around the corner, one can hear rattles and clatters already. He resembles a knight in armor character from a fantasy role-playing. From top to bottom he is draped with rings, riveting and little metal pads; 18 rings adorn his fingers. He obtained them in Bologna, Paris and in New York. He found them in flea markets, witch festivals and, one time found a ring wrapped in cellophane in a toothbrush glass in a hotel room.
Vitallini is well-known in the fashion world and this not only because of his appearance. In 1988, he together with his sister-in-law, founded the brand Forza Giovane in the city of Fano, in the Marche Region. Nowadays, the company employees 80 employees and satisfies the eccentric wishes of his clients. One highly demanded technology at the moment is the “Agugliatura.” Instead of sewing two textiles together, the two textiles go through a fiber intertwining process. As a result, the materials get softly unified. Like the color of the ocean in a watercolor painting.
An old art, practiced by young hands. At Passamani, Daniele, 40, has the last word. Before this job, he sold high-tech-machinery, for instance to the manufacturers of water faucets. Now he winds yarn, winds chains, oils hinge joints and manages a team of 20-year old guys.
Thanks to the young spirit of his employees, Passamani keeps up with the times. It is true that the Jacquard-weaver looms operate with punched cards. At the same time, however, instead of using hammer and chisel, Vitalini prefers to use laser cutting machines. “They are faster and more precise.”
